Sometimes as we pass through life we find something and someone that is truly unique and wonderful. I have found a wonderful lady that makes rag quilts and really has a passion for them. Her website is located at http://www.kathyscustomcreations.com
I had been looking for just the right quilt for one of my guest rooms which I had painted lavender. I didn't realize that lavender was not the "in" color for quilts. I could not find anything that I really liked. After about a year of searching I began looking for someone to make a custom quilt for me. I was lucky enough to find a person who not only makes quilts but loves to make quilts. Everything that she makes is like it is for a special friend. The process is wonderful and so much fun and the end result is outstanding!
You are involved in the process the whole time. Kathy listens as you tell her what your vision is for the quilt. I wanted pastels and wanted to have some chenille squares for a different texture. I gave her the card number of the paint in the bedroom and she picked that up and went shopping for fabric. Then she laid it out and sent me the photos to see what I liked and if I wanted anything changed. Below is the first layout.
After studying the quilt I decided that I didn't like the blue plaid that was in the quilt. No problem, out it came and a new picture of the second layout arrived.
Really, it was that easy. She truly wants you to love the quilt. Shams were made the size that I needed, pillows were made in the fabric that I wanted. It was amazing. When all was completed and shipped to me it ended up being less than if I would have bought a quilt that I really didn't like. In the top picture you can even see the wonderful valance she made to match everything. I have found the quilt to be extremely animal friendly. As you see, Sherman, the cat loves it. With each washing it becomes more beautiful. The ragging becomes fuller and it is such a showpiece. Wait until you see the quilt that is now being made for the master bedroom. I can't wait until it is done and I can put pictures up. You'll love it. Fabric is ordered and the design is set.
